Mr. Shardul Admane is General Manger in the Reinsurance function of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India. He is a Chartered Accountant by qualification and brings over two-and-a half decades of experience in financial services, regulation and supervision. In his current role, he oversees the activities relating to regulation, supervision and governance & reporting of registered entities (insurers) on matters relating to reinsurance.

Before joining IRDAI, he served as a direct recruit officer in the treasury function of a Public Sector General Insurance Company. During his tenure at the IRDAI over 2 decades, he gained extensive experience in various areas such as registration of insurers and intermediaries, monitoring Corporate Governance, compliance and reporting of insurance companies.

In his current role as General Manager-Reinsurance, he was involved in the comprehensive review and modification of the reinsurance regulatory and reporting framework of the IRDAI. He was also a part of the Working Groups set up to review the working of domestic insurance pools as well as the digital platform for reinsurance transactions.

This experience has provided him valuable insights into the operational aspects of reinsurance which would be useful in aligning the framework towards achieving the goal of making India a global reinsurance hub.
