Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Godfrey K. Kiptum serves as the Commissioner of Insurance and Chief Executive Officer of Kenya's Insurance Regulatory Authority. He is a distinguished academic, holding a master’s in public policy and management from Strathmore Business School, an MBA from Maastricht School of Management and ESAMI, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nairobi. His professional credentials include being a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI) and a certified microinsurance expert.
Boasting a career spanning over three decades in the public sector, Mr. Kiptum has risen through the ranks to his current leadership role. His influence extends to several key institutions, including serving on the Board of the Retirement Benefits Authority and as a Trustee for both the Policyholders Compensation Fund and the Insurance Training and Education Trust.
Under his strategic guidance, the Authority has achieved significant milestones, most notably through the development of groundbreaking microinsurance and index insurance frameworks. These innovative policies have been instrumental in expanding insurance penetration across Kenya, thereby driving financial inclusion, and providing vital risk protection to previously underserved segments of the population.
