Souvik brings with him experience of 38 years in the Non-Life Insurance industry across Asia and Africa. He has worked in India, Japan and Eastern Africa in various capacities in direct insurance, reinsurance and broking.

Souvik started a career in insurance as a Direct Recruit Officer with New India Assurance. His journey in Reinsurance commenced upon his posting to Japan, and upon completion of his tenure, he soon relocated to Nairobi as Underwriter with African Reinsurance Corporation. Thereafter, he moved into Trade Credit and Political Risks Insurance with African Trade Insurance (now ATIDI), the highest rated insurer/reinsurer in Africa. From thence, he moved to Continental Reinsurance in Nairobi as their Principal Officer and Managing Director.

In the reinsurance field, he led the Continental Reinsurance team from a premium income of USD 17 million to USD 100 million in five years. In Africa Re as Underwriter for all lines of non-life business, he achieved growth of 400% in four years.

Souvik holds an MBA degree in Marketing, with various professional qualifications in Insurance. He is a trainer of some repute, has regularly spoken at major conferences in Africa and has participated in providing consultancy to a start up insurance company in India and in Eastern Africa also.

He has been a national-level debater and is a keen stage artist.
